A female duo for a concert between tradition and popular music. “Folklore” is the concert starring the mezzo-soprano Hanna Hipp and the pianist Emma Abbate, Monday 13 January 2020 (9 pm) at the Ridotto of the Masini Theatre in Faenza. A concert inspired by the popular song and its reinterpretation with pieces by Poulenc, Ravel, Pizzetti, Berio and de Falla.
The mezzo-soprano Hanna Hipp has performed as soloist at the most prestigious theatres in the world, including the Royal House, La Scala, the Opera House in Rome and the Teatro Real in Madrid, while the Neapolitan pianist Emma Abbate has an intense concert activity especially as chamber pianist specialized in twentieth-century chamber operas.
Hanna Hipp, polacca, si è esibita come solista presso i più prestigiosi teatri del mondo, incluso la Royal House, La Scala, il Teatro dell’Opera a Roma e il Teatro Real di Madrid, mentre la pianista napoletana Emma Abbate, dallo “strepitoso talento”, svolge un’intesa attività concertista soprattutto come pianista da camera, specializzata nella lirica da camera del Novecento. They recorded Sera d’inverno: Songs by Ildebrando Pizzetti, an album that has had great success with critics and audiences, of which they will perform some pieces in Faenza: Sera d’inverno, L’annuncio, Il Clefta prigione, Canzone per ballo.
The programme also includes 8 Chansons polonaises by Francis Poulenc, Chants Populaires by Maurice Ravel, 7 canciones populares españolas by Manuel De Fall and four Canzoni Popolari for female voice and piano by Luciano Berio, the Italian composer who was a pioneer of electronic music.
