The first season ERF@CASSEROMUSICA opens with “Boris Vian, il poeta sincopato”, on Thursday 8 November (9.00 pm) at the Cassero Theatre in Castel San Pietro Terme. A concert dedicated to the pyrotechnic French poet and musician of the early twentieth century, who will see on stage the voice of Cristina Zavalloni, Paolo Birro at the piano and Pietro Tonolo, the author of the arrangements together with Furio di Castri, at the reeds.
Boris Vian experimented with poetry, theatre, narrative, music, sometimes resembling a Renaissance figure living in ‘900. He lived for even forty years, bou he was the prototype of the total artist. So dear to the historical avant-gardes of the twentieth century and surrealism, he was a cultured and disenchanted intellectual of French existentialism, but also an extravagant musician of the first rebel music, as well as the first who sensed the greatness of Jazz, infact he also was a trumpet player and author of songs that gave to the Jazz diffusion in Europe a fundamental contribution.
Pietro Tonolo, author and arranger of the musical part, together with the amazing voice of Cristina Zavalloni and the pianistic grace of Paolo Birro, will commemorate the multi-faceted world of the writer and musician. The trio, initially born as a “chamber” reduction of the project with the same name produced in 2017 for Narrazioni Jazz – Torino, now enjoys an excellent harmony. “Boris Vian, il poeta sincopato” combines original poems with unpublished melodies, in addition to the master’s own songs – translated for the occasion and re-arranged.
